SJC Granted 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Status

Sacramento, California – Sacramento Jazz Cooperative, Inc. (SJC) is proud to announce it is now officially a public charity with tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the United States Internal Revenue Code. Contributions donated to SJC are fully tax-deductible retroactive to the founding of the organization on September 26, 2016. SJC is also now eligible to apply for government and foundation grants, which will further broaden its access to resources and strengthen its ability to serve the jazz community.

"Obtaining full 501(c)(3) status is a major milestone for SJC," remarked President and Founder Carolyne Swayze. "This opens many doors for us to expand partnerships, seek grant funding, and pursue fundraising activities to fully realize our goals as a charitable educational organization facilitating the training and professional development needs recognizing jazz, the true American art form.  In doing so, we will meet our mission to expand the Sacramento jazz market throughout the area, including having a dedicated facility.

Supporting its educational mission, SJC is seeking to partner with Sacramento State University, and other higher learning educational facilities to develop or support existing jazz studies or music programs for the arts. The SJC Tax Identification Number (EID) is 81-4169324. The IRS letter granting SJC its 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status is available upon request. Donation inquiries can be sent to
