Confidentiality Policy

Respecting the privacy of our customers, members, staff, volunteers and SJC itself is a basic value of the organization. All information concerning clients, former clients, SJC staff, board members, contractors, volunteers, financial data, and business records of the Sacramento Jazz Cooperative is confidential. “Confidential” means SJC staff and volunteers are free to talk about SJC and its program and their positions but are not permitted to discuss the details mentioned above. Official board business is discussed typically in the boardroom or possibly with other board members directly in a secure environment.

Personal and financial information, including rates paid to contractors is confidential and should not be disclosed or discussed with anyone without permission or authorization by the CEO or executive director. Care shall also be taken to ensure that unauthorized individuals do not overhear any discussion of confidential information and that documents containing confidential information are not left in the open or inadvertently shared.

Employees, volunteers and board members of SJC may be exposed to information which is confidential, privileged and proprietary in nature. It is the policy of SJC that such information must be kept confidential both during and after employment or volunteer service. Staff and volunteers, including board members, are expected to return materials containing privileged or confidential information at the time of separation from employment or expiration of service.

Unauthorized disclosure of confidential or privileged information is a serious violation of this policy and will be subject person(s) who made the unauthorized disclosure to appropriate disciplinary action up to the removal or dismissal.
