Remembering Dakota Staton, The Late, Late Show

February holds the distinction of being a month that celebrates various occasions. We have Black History Month, President’s Day, Valentine’s Day, to say nothing of tons of Aquarian And Pisces birthdays. In honor of all, SJC presents Carolyne Swayze as she pays tribute to one of the most overlooked and underrated jazz singers of the 20th Century, Dakota Staton, and her debut album The Late, Late Show which was among of the top one hundred grossing albums for the decade between 1957 to 1967. With Joe Gilman on piano, Joe Mazzaferro on trumpet, Buca Necak on bass, and Jeff Minnieweather on drums. Filmed on location in front of no audience at From the Living Room (TM).
